Losing a much loved pet can be completely devastating, whether it is through illness, old age or an accident or even having to leave a pet through circumstances beyond your control. Your pet may have been stolen or even kidnapped. It can leave the grieving owner feeling totality bereft, lonely and empty.
Although feelings of desolation can overtake you it can help to talk to someone who has had personnel experience and can fully understand what you are going through.
The Pet Bereavement Service (PBSS) offers support and understanding to bereft pet owners through a national network of trained volunteer telephone and email befriends, all of whom are ready to help. All calls and emails are treated confidentially. This service is run by the Blue Cross in conjunction with the Society for Companion Animal Studies (SCAS)
